VW ATE MK61 repair
Currently in Austria we have many inquiries and orders for the repair of the VW ATE MK61. The fault codes 01130 and/or 16352 control unit implausible signal are the most common cause of this. In addition, the ABS/ESP warning light illuminates in the instrument cluster. The control unit should now be repaired or replaced to ensure safe operation of the vehicle. Error 01130 / 16352 implausible signal
Fault code 01130 translates as „Implausible signal“ and 16352 as „Control unit defective“. If either of these faults occurs, the function of the ABS/ESP system is completely deactivated. Origin of the error
Due to a hardware fault in the ABS control unit, there was a recall campaign by the VAG Group. Consequently, a recall campaign was carried out for the affected vehicles and a software update was installed. Unfortunately, this update was not very successful. In some cases, the hardware fault reappeared a short time later, i.e. within the warranty period, and the ABS control unit was replaced as a gesture of goodwill. Unfortunately, not all customers were this fortunate.

Which vehicles can this fault be expected in?
These faults affect the entire VAG group. Below you will find a few of the affected vehicles and models:
- Audi: A4, A3, TT
- VW: EOS, Golf V, Golf VI, Jetta, New Beetle, Scirocco, Tiguan, Touran (2012), Caddy (2011)
- Skoda: Fabia 6Y, Octavia 1Z, Octavia 1U, Yeti 5L, Superb 3T
- Seat: Altea 5P, Altea XL, Leon 1P
What exactly is being repaired?
For the repair, we only need the control unit of the ABS assembly. Once the unit has been removed from the vehicle, this can be easily unscrewed or pulled off the hydraulic unit. As soon as it arrives with us, an initial incoming test is carried out by us. With our specially developed tester, we can test the control unit on the bench. After that, the repair takes place, during which the defective components on the circuit board are replaced. Before the control unit is sealed shut again, the final outgoing test is carried out. Normally, the control unit is ready for collection or ready for return shipping within 1-2 days of receipt.
Difference between ABS unit and ABS control module
ATE MK61 is the model designation of the control unit. As the successor to the ATE MK60 ABS system, it is installed in various mid-range vehicles from a wide range of manufacturers. ATE MK61 pump motor fault
With some ATE MK61 ABS units, the pump motor also causes problems. If the fault affects the pump motor, our procedure is as follows: we remove the block including the motor from the control unit and externally test the pump motor on the bench. After repair and final testing, the ABS unit is ready for collection again. The whole process takes approx. 1–2 days and costs approximately €219.00 incl. VAT. ABS control unit and hydraulic unit ATE MK60
The predecessor, the ATE MK60, also has the fault code 01130. Here too, this is a repairable defect. At BMW, the fault code is 5DF5, C1DF5 or 24053. Depending on the diagnostic tester, the fault code is translated differently, including: internal fault, control unit defective or even valve control failed. Pump motor faults also occur and can be repaired in the exact same way as on the ATE MK61.
