We have specialised in professional electronics repair. Since 2007 at, Automotive Mosertronik we have been very successfully running the speedometer repair through. We started under the name Moser Tachoservice with Repair speedometer. At the beginning of 2016, we expanded our offer with Industry Mosertronik expanded. Prerequisite and information
The Electronics repair is no simple task. In order to successfully repair an electronic assembly unknown to us, detailed information is essential. Furthermore, it should be ensured that the fault also lies with this electronic part.
The necessary groundwork for good information
In the first step, a competent person must diagnose the system/device and locate the fault. After the defective assembly has been elicited, the technician can create a fault description for us. This includes marking the defective inputs/outputs. This procedure can increase the probability of repair and reduce costs.
Pin assignment, circuit diagram and wiring diagram
For new assemblies or devices, we will ask you for a circuit diagram and/or pin assignment. These diagrams are necessary for us to understand the connections between the components and the functions of the unit. We do not need the actual circuit diagram of the board, usually these are not officially available anyway.
What is a pin assignment
A pin assignment is the simplest form of a circuit diagram. All the plugs of a module are described on a pin assignment. In addition, there is a pin number for each connector, including a description of its function. The example on the left shows the pin assignment of an engine control unit.
What is a circuit diagram
In electrical engineering, a circuit diagram or schematic is the graphical representation of a device. This representation does not take into account the real arrangement of the components. The circuit diagrams show all the connectors of the individual assemblies and how they are connected to each other. The circuit diagrams are passed on by the builder to the maintenance electricians or to the customer. In the example picture on the right you can see a circuit diagram of an industrial machine. Do not confuse with the electronic circuit diagrams!
There are also circuit diagrams in electronics, these are also called circuit diagrams or circuit sketches. The circuit diagrams are a graphic representation of a circuit board, without regard to the real arrangement of the components. These diagrams are kept under lock and key by the manufacturers and are rarely made public. You can find an example of an electronic circuit diagram at Hardware development under point two.
Repair by a professional: Diagnosis
Before we can carry out an electronics repair, we have to find the defective components. We have various methods and possibilities for this. First, we make a visual inspection for obviously defective components, mechanical damage or other suspicious traces. If no visual damage can be detected, the assembly is energised and we try to reconstruct the fault. For this, we need the circuit diagram to simulate the necessary signals. Power supplies, measuring devices and signal generators are used here. We also work with a thermal imaging camera to detect unusual temperatures. If no fault can be detected here, we check the fault-related components with special measuring devices. If we cannot find anything, then either there is no defect or there is a problem with the processor or its software.
The repair is carried out
After the defective components have been identified, a cost estimate will be prepared. If you agree to the estimate, the components will be replaced. The assembly is then re-circuited and another attempt is made to rectify the fault. If the error no longer occurs after the repair, we still exchange all overhaul-relevant components and clean the complete circuit board. As soon as everything is finished, we make a final test. Now, finally, your device can be sent to you again.

It happens very often that electronics are confused with electrics. That is why we would like to finally clarify the differences here. In some areas, the boundaries are becoming increasingly blurred, making it more and more difficult for the layperson to distinguish between these terms. Both terms belong to the engineering science of electrical engineering.
