Consequently, a recall campaign was carried out for the affected vehicles and a software update was installed. Unfortunately, this update was not very successful. In some cases, the hardware fault reappeared a short time later, i.e. within the warranty period, and the ABS control unit was replaced as a gesture of goodwill. As the successor to the ATE MK60 ABS system, it is installed in various mid-range vehicles from a wide range of manufacturers. At BMW, the fault code is 5DF5, C1DF5 or 24053.
